GRUBB PROPERTIES ANNOUNCES OPENING OF ELIZABETH CREAMERY
- Home-made ice cream shop renovates space adjacent to new hit restaurant Customshop
- Free ice cream special offered 12noon – 6pm on Friday, May 18
CHARLOTTE, NC – May 11, 2007 - Grubb Properties, the local developer behind the Elizabeth Avenue revitalization and the emerging mixed-use neighborhood of Morrison in South Park, today announced that home-made ice cream shop “Elizabeth Creamery” has opened on Elizabeth Avenue in a recently renovated space between hit restaurant start-up Customshop and local favorite NOFO on Liz.
Elizabeth Creamery, owned and operated by Sun Jae Kim, relocated from a successful location in Mint Hill where it was recognized for serving an extensive selection of custom, home-made flavors. Specialties include rich milkshakes with the freshest fruits and ingredients, classic sundaes and ice cream desserts, a seasonal selection of fresh fruit smoothies, and a variety of traditional and chocolate-dipped cones.
Customers will enjoy the exceptional service of owner-operator Kim, his wife and their daughter in a 1940’s era building renovated to include Customshop next door and office space with an outdoor terrace above. The Kim’s opted for a more contemporary interior with blown-glass pendant lamps, floors that alternate between bleached hardwood and blue-glass tiles, and modern seating in a collection of primary colors. The space is both cozy and bright, a perfect contrast to the rich, darker hues of surrounding restaurants like Customshop, Carpe Diem and NOFO on Liz.
“Elizabeth Creamery is a perfect example of what we’re creating along Elizabeth Avenue,” Jonathan Nance, Grubb’s director of commercial leasing, said. “When all is said and done, this will be an eclectic neighborhood. One that feels like it’s always been here, with residents and office tenants mingling with national retailers, local boutiques, and one-of-a-kind shops to bring an ease and a charm to the fabric of the community.”
The 1599 square foot lease was negotiated by Grubb Properties’ Jana Foreman.
